Alexis Sanchez has picked up a leg injury in training and will miss Chile’s World Cup qualifier against Colombia on Thursday.

Instead of traveling to Colombia’s Caribbean city of Barranquilla, the Chilean football federation says in a statement Tuesday that the Arsenal star “will stay in Santiago and will be treated for Chile’s next match against Uruguay” on Nov. 15 in Santiago.

The defending Copa America champion, Chile is fifth in South American World Cup qualifying with 16 points, five behind leaders Brazil.

Colombia has 17 points.

Sanchez has scored six goals in the English Premier League for London club Arsenal and is one of Chile’s key players, helping the national team to win the Copa America in June.
