The solitary Test will be played at the Tolerance Oval in Abu Dhabi, which will be followed by the ODI and T20I legs. The limited-overs matches will be played at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium in Sharjah.
The two teams previously met in a Test in 2018 – their only meeting – in Dehradun where the Afghans emerged victorious by seven wickets. Rahmat Shah was adjudged the Player of the Match then.
The Test will be followed by three ODIs and as many T20Is. Afghanistan holds the edge over Ireland with a 16-13 lead across 30 meetings. In their 23 T20I encounters, Afghanistan have emerged victorious in 16 games while Ireland have enjoyed seven wins.
