India vs Bangladesh (IND vs BAN) 3rd T20I Highlights: India won the 3rd T20I against Bangladesh by 30 runs to win the series 2-1. Medium-fast bowler Chahar needed only 3.2 overs to destroy Bangladesh, including the last three wickets. Bangladesh opener Mohammad Naim smashed 81 off 48 balls with 10 fours and two sixes before he was bowled by Shivam Dube (3-30).
Earlier, propelled by a quickfire fifty from Shreyas Iyer, India end up with 174 for 5 in their 20 overs in the series decider. Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul set the foundation after which Shreyas Iyer changed the course in the middle overs and Manish Pandey provided the finishing touches. He bags the Man of the Match & Man of the Series award- "It is a big moment for me. Working hard is in my hands, the rest was taken care by the almighty. Rohit had told me that he will give me some crucial overs. I always focus on the next ball."
Tests: Harbhajan Singh, Irfan Pathan
ODIs: Chetan Sharma, Kapil Dev, Kuldeep Yadav & Mohammed Shami
T20Is: Deepak Chahar
This is a sensational spell from him. Gets the wicket of Aminul Islam with another yorker. The batsman tried to scoop it out but cant. SIX WICKETS FOR CHAHAR. It is a hat-trick as well. Ends with figures of 3.2-0-7-6 in the series decider. The best figures in T20Is. This is totally a Deepak Chahar show.
WICKET! Mustafizur Rahman, who was on strike, went for the big hit on another rising delivery outside the off stump but perished for a duck as the ball landed straight to Shreyas Iyer standing sweeper cover. A five star performance from Deepak Chahar tonight! Only the 4th Indian to pick a five-wicket haul in T20 cricket
Deepak Chahar dismisses Shafiul Islam on 4. Bangladesh 135/8 in 18 overs. Bangladesh sliding towards the inevitable. Bangladesh need 40 runs in 12 balls. Chahar's figures: 3-0-7-4.
Mahmudullah falls prey to Chahal, 50th T20I wicket for him. He becomes the fastest Indian to reach the milestone. BAN- 131/7 after 17 ovs | Need 44 runs in 18 balls.
Excellent comeback from Shivam dube. At one point he seemed down and out however, he removed the danger man Naim and Mushfiqur Rahim.
First 2 overs: 2-0-23-0
Next 2 overs: 2-0-7-3
One brings 2 and two brings 3 . Brilliant bowling from Dube as he picks up the wicket of Afif Hossain with a cross seamer. Quicker than the batsman expected and lobs it straight back to the bowler. Shivam Dube on a hattrick. But he doesnt get it. What a good over. The gamble has paid off. BAN 126/6 | Bangladesh need 49 runs in 24 balls.
What a delivery under pressure from Dube! He executes a perfect yorker to get rid of the dangerous Naim. Timely wicket for India! BAN- 126/5, 15.4 overs
Bangladesh are 125/4 After 15 overs. Naim (81*) and Mahmudullah (4*) are at the crease. Five overs to go, Bangladesh need 50 more! Which team are you backing?
Once again its a poor call by Rishabh Pant. He was appealing for a caught behind and forces his captain Rohit Sharma to up for a DRS review. Khaleel Ahmed back him as well but there's nothing on UltraEdge. Umpire's decision stands chants of 'Dhoni-Dhoni' erupt. This is not going well for Pant.
2 in quick time for #TeamIndia! Shivam Dube picks up his maiden international wicket & its the big one of Mushfiqur Rahim. Probably the ball skidded off the surface and that was enough to get the inside edge. Rahim is gone for a duck. BAN- 110/4
Rohit sharma goest to Chahar and he delviers and finally India get a wicket. Deepak Chahar dismisses Mohammad Mithun on 27. BAN- 110/3 after 13 ovs | Bangladesh need 65 runs in 42 balls
Without a 6th bowling option this was always on the cards. We had told you this before, right at the start-
Naim finishes Chahal's over with a maximum. He moves on to 70 off 39 deliveries. Bangladesh have crossed the 100-run mark with Naim dominating. India need wickets and need them quickly. Naim is batting with such a refreshing freedom and this could all be over quite quickly. BAN- 106/2 after 12 ovs
This is where fielding plays it’s role! Could’ve been out! Better throw? Better presence ?
Run-out chance missed!
Last over, stumping chance missed!
It might prove costly in the end?
Gets the there with a boundary of Washington Sundar. Bangladesh are still in the run-chase thanks to him and it has been an inspiring innings for the neighbours after two early blows. Here's where Washington Sundar is slightly vulnerable. He can be economical, but not quite the guy who can stop the run flow BAN- 91/2, need 84 runs in 54 balls.
Chahal is really struggling with the wet ball now. Bangaldesh looking really good in this run-chase. What they are doing right here is that they are picking a boundary per over and occasionaly converting into 6. Rahim and Mahmudullah still to come and we have a game on here. Last 33 balls have fetched 64 runs.
We are at the halfway stage and Bangladesh's first 10 overs: 74 runs, two wickets. They need another 101 runs in 60 balls. Can they do it?
Concedes another boundary and the 50-run partnership between Naim and Mithun. It keeps the game in the balance. BAN- 62/2 after 9 ovs. Need 113 runs in 66 balls.
50 comes up for Bangladesh. Since Chahal has been introduced into the attack, boundaries have become easy to come by. Another one as Mithun pulls it over mid-wicket. Last four overs fetch 40 runs. BAN- 53/2 after 8 ovs
Mohammad Naim is at it again, as he hits two boundaries from two balls in Shivam Dube's first over. And with such brilliant placement, he has raced to 32* from 24 balls. 12 runs off the over. BAN are 45/2 after 7 overs.
Mohammad Naim has suddenly woken up from his slumber, and gone on the frontfoot. Three consecutive boundaries off the first three balls. India finish the powerplay with Yuzvendra Chahal's over, and he has been punished here, conceding 15 runs in his over. BAN are 33/2 after 6 overs.
India are the superior side here, with both Mohammad Naim and Mohammad Mithun clearly on the backfoot here. Just the 10 runs in last 24 balls here. Two wickets in the third over. BAN are 18/2 after 5 overs.
On comes Soumya Sarkar, and off he goes. Deepak Chahar is on a hattrick now, after Shivam Dube confidently catches the mistimed hit. But Mohammad Mithun does well to defend the last ball of the over. Two wickets and just one run from the over. BAN are 12/2 after 3 overs.
After a brilliant over by Washington Sundar, India have now made their first mark. Deepak Chahar dismisses Liton Das, after the batsman went for the maximum but instead got caught by Sundar. BAN are 12/1 after 2.4 overs.
Khaleel Ahmed starts India's defence with the ball, and with his left-armed deliveries, he has started off all too similarly. Liton Das and Mohammad Naim opened for Bangladesh, and the former hit him for two boundaries. Eight runs off the over. BAN are 8/0 after the first over.
Last over : 2 4 1 1 1 2 and India end with 174/5 in 20 overs. Bangladesh will require 175 runs to claim their maiden T20I series win against India. Shikhar Dhawan, KL Rahul set the foundation after which Shreyas Iyer changed the course in the middle overs and Manish Pandey provided the finishing touches.
Aminul is the culprit again. It was a full toss and Dube's shot was mistimed but he cant hold on and manages to let it slip out of his grasp. Al-Amin is not happy with the effort. Was it the dew? IND are 163/5 after 19 overs.
Shreyas Iyer looked in supreme touch today scoring at 11.27 rpo, but importantly with a false shot percentage of only 3%. Of all 140 times an Indian has faced 30+ in a T20I innings, only once has a player looked more secure - Kohli's 2.5% v Afghanistan in Sep 2012.
Manish Pandey ups the ante with a couple of boundaries off Shaiful's over. The bowler finishes with 4-1-32-2. India reach 157/5 in 18 overs.
The fireworks are over. Iyer holds out at mid-off. Soumya Sarkar gets the wicket. Excellent innings from him! Two new batsmen on the crease. IND are 144/5 after 17 overs.
Soumya Sarkar cleans up Rishabh Pant (6 off 9) with a slower delivery. Another slog and another dismissal and IND- 139/4.
Excellent half century by Shreyas Iyer. 50 from 27 balls with a SR of 185 . Showing his hitting range n justifying his selection as no. 4 ..!! Hope he makes it big n completes a wonderful 100.
Iyer launches Afif Hossain over long-on. Then a change of angle doesnt work as Iyer deposits him over the sightscreen. BUT HE IS NOT DONE YET! 3rd SIX of the over! Hat-trick of sixes and the Bangladeshi players look worried. Another length ball and Shreyas Iyer can hit the ball a fair distance. Reminds us of Rohit Sharma in his early days. IND- 128/3 in 14.5 ovs
KL Rahul falls against the run of play. It was a slower one by Al-Amin and Rahul was early into the shot and he miscues it straight to Liton Das who gobbles it safely at mid-off. Soft dismissal. IND- 94/3 after 12.1 ovs
FIFTY! A well made half-century for KL Rahul off 33 deliveries. His 6th in T20Is. This one will be special for the Karnataka lad as it is filled with wonderful strokeplay. IND- 94/2 after 12 ovs
Shreyas Iyer likes to take on the leg spinner and there is no half measures here. Aminul Islam with a flighted one and Iyer makes just enough room to get underneath and put it back past the bowler. The partnership is looking better than ever. India are nearing the three-figure mark.
A pitched up delivery at 135.7kph - right in the slot though. Rahul gets forward and plays a good-looking aerial drive over wide mid-off. Stood his ground and posed for the photographs. Everything was right about that shot. IND- 71/2 after 10 overs
Rebuilding period for India underway. Rahul has a chance yet again to play a good innings here and make his case. Giving him company is Shreyas Iyer who has looked in nice touch so far. IND- 59/2 after 9 ovs
Shikhar Dhawan in T20Is in 2019:
12 innings
272 runs
Avg 22.66
SR 110.56
HS 41
Skipper Mahmudullah takes a catch by pedalling back at mid-wicket and Dhawan has to depart! Took the bottom of the bat and did not the get the distance he was looking. Shafiul gets both the openers. IND- 36/2
The Fizz with a ball angling back in and Dhawan doing the right thing- pulls it away for a boundary and putting pressure on the bowler right away. IND- 30/1 .The body language of Shikhar Dhawan is different today- the way the hands are coming down is just perfect. Needs to continue from hereon.
This time KL Rahul is on the act. Nothing wrong with the delivery and Rahul walks into it and lifts it over mid-off. Takes some courage. But he is not done yet- the second delivery is off the backfoot, right from the meaty part of the part. Pure cricketing shot and it doesnt get better. IND- 21/1
Shikhar Dhawan has got a start. The first one from Al-Amin was a back of a length delivery to which Dhawan waits for the ball to come to him before dispatching it through square leg. The next one is fuller and is lofted over mid-on. IND- 13/1
Big Blow for India. Rohit Sharma trying to flick it from off and a tad lazy from Rohit Sharma and an inside-edge which crashes into the stumps. Unlucky for Rohit but lucky for Shafiul. And a maiden over as well. First of the series. 2 overs gone and IND- 3/1
Out come the Indian openers. Al Amin with the new ball. Rohit Sharma on strike and HERE WE GO! A dot ball to start with and its a noisy Nagpur with a full house.
Shivam Dube has bowled his quota of four overs on only 5 out of the 19 times he's bowled in a T20. With only five recognized bowlers today for India, the right-arm medium seamer will definitely be expected to bowl his full quota of overs.
Harsha Bhogle says, "India going in with a very thin bowling attack with Manish Pandey in for Krunal Pandya. It means Shivam Dubey has to bowl 4 overs unless Shreyas Iyer bowls a bit. Big call. Could be a dangerous call."
"We would have bowled first as well. It's a great challenge for us to bat first and post a good total. Teams batting first have managed to defend scores because of the slowness. The records are not for taking."
Liton Das, Mohammad Naim, Soumya Sarkar, Mushfiqur Rahim(w), Mahmudullah(c), Afif Hossain, Mohammad Mithun, Aminul Islam, Shafiul Islam, Mustafizur Rahman, Al-Amin Hossain
Rohit Sharma(c), Shikhar Dhawan, Lokesh Rahul, Shreyas Iyer, Manish Pandey, Rishabh Pant(w), Shivam Dube, Washington Sundar, Deepak Chahar, Yuzvendra Chahal, K Khaleel Ahmed
Bangladesh win toss and opt to field first.
Mahmudullah has captained Bangladesh in seven T20Is and won the toss five times (71.43%) - Rohit Sharma has captained India in 17 matches and won the toss eight times (47.06%).
Its a big ground. 149 is the average score. Teams winning the toss are always batting first. But Sunny G mentions that the grass has come off a bit in a certain area of the pitch near the batsman. Once the ball lands there spinners will get purchase. So its dry and there is grass but not the one which binds it, kind of crumbly. Win the toss and bat first seems to be the mantra of the day.
After the smog of New Delhi, cyclone threat of Rajkot, the question remains is what Nagpur has to offer tonight? With this tie being the series decider, anyone can expect a thriller with the steel of Rohit Sharma and the doggedness of Mahmudullah. The toss is in 15 minutes. Stay tuned!
