IND vs WI 2nd Test Match Date, Time: India will look to clean sweep West Indies. (AP)IND vs WI 2nd Test Match Date, Time: India will look to clean sweep West Indies as the two teams lock horns for the second test at the Arun Jaitley Stadium on Thursday. The first match in Ahmedabad was a largely lopsided contest with the hosts bulldozing the Windies by an innings and 140 runs.
The second Test is largely expected to follow the same pattern of Indian dominance with the hosts expected to field the same team as Ahmedabad. But there will be interest on another facet of the series which is if Kotla can pull the crowd in without the presence of huge stars like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma. The empty stands in Ahmedabad last week wasn’t a pleasant view and with the WI not proving much of a threat, only time will tell if Delhi crowds go the same way.
IND predicted XI: Shubman Gill (c), Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Dhruv Jurel (WK), Nitish Reddy, Ravindra Jadeja (vc), Washington Sundar, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Mohammed Siraj.
Key player to watch out for: Nitish Kumar Reddy has been dominating the talks ahead of the 2nd Test match in Delhi with the Andhra allrounder not getting a chance to bat in the first match at Ahmedabad. With India looking for a seam bowling allrounder for the future, the team management is keen on making Nitish their man and that means that they might even send the player a bit higher up to bat in Delhi. “It’s very important when we go away on tours that we have that position coming. We didn’t get a very good look at Nitish last week, so I think it’s actually a very good opportunity to give Nitish another go and not alter the balance of the team. We think he’s a fantastic seam bowling all-rounder,” assistant coach Ryan ten Doeschate had said on Wednesday.
India Squad: Yashasvi Jaiswal, KL Rahul, Sai Sudharsan, Shubman Gill(c), N Jagadeesan, Ravindra Jadeja, Dhruv Jurel(w), Washington Sundar, Axar Patel, Prasidh Krishna, Mohammed Siraj, Jasprit Bumrah, Kuldeep Yadav, Devdutt Padikkal, Nitish Kumar Reddy
West Indies Squad: John Campbell, Tagenarine Chanderpaul, Alick Athanaze, Brandon King, Roston Chase(c), Shai Hope(w), Justin Greaves, Khary Pierre, Johann Layne, Anderson Phillip, Jayden Seales, Jomel Warrican, Jediah Blades, Kevlon Anderson, Tevin Imlach
India vs West Indies head-to-head records in Tests
Matches played: 101, India won: 24, WI Won: 30, Drawn: 47
The pitch at the Feroz Shah Kotla will likely be a black soil one and is expected to offer plenty of turn which will play right into the hands of the Indian spin duo of Kuldeep Yadav and Washington Sundar as well as Ravindra Jadeja. It’ll be pretty difficult for the WI batters who haven’t managed play spin well and it’ll be surprising if this one lasts all 5 days.
The national capital will see pretty pleasant weather with AccuWeather suggesting conditions conducive for a cricket match. It’ll be 27° in the morning when the match starts with sunny conditions while the temperature goes to 29° in the afternoon.
The India vs West Indies first Test will be played from 9:30 AM IST from October 10, 2025 in New Delhi. Toss is scheduled for 9:00 AM.
