Kolkata Sports Quiz Festival

Sports lovers should have a field day on September 21, as the KSQF is back at the ICCR with four quiz competitions covering a spate of athletic realms. Open to teams of three (all ages), it will award trophies and cash prizes of Rs 3000, 2000 and 1000 to the winners of each event:

1. Cricket Quiz by Abhishek M. and Sreshth S. (9:30am)
2. Football Quiz by Devdan M. and Samanway B. (1pm)
3. Gyaanspace’s Sports Quiz by Titash B. and Kunal M. (4pm)
4. Olympics Quiz by Nikhil S. and Somnath C. (7pm)

Registration: Paid. Season passes are for Rs 250 for all four quiz competitions, otherwise tickets are at Rs 100 per person per quiz. Sign up on the KSQF Google Form.

QFI Grandmaster Quiz, Chennai

The Quiz Foundation of India will hold its flagship Grandmaster Solo Quiz on September 8 at PS Senior Secondary School, Mylapore. Starting at 3pm, the event is a four-hour individual challenge to identify the quizzer of the year. As per tradition, the previous Grandmaster Jayakanthan will run the show as quizmaster.

Registration: None required. Free event, all ages. Show up and jump in!

RBI’s National Quiz (Online)

The Reserve Bank of India is celebrating its 90th anniversary with a general quiz competition for undergraduates. Online prelims will run from September 19 to 21 (Phase 1), open to those under 25 studying at any recognised college/university. Bumper prizes are in store: two lakhs for state winners (Phase 2), five lakhs for zonal winners (Phase 3) and 10 lakhs for the national winner (Phase 4)!

Durga Puja Quizzes, Delhi

Chittaranjan Park is the heart of Durga Puja celebrations in Delhi. In the run-up to Durgotsav, the local Kali Mandir Society is hosting an all-ages GK quiz competition on September 22. Form teams of four, grab a snack from the many eateries nearby, and sit down for the quiz competition by 7pm. You can sign up here.

Update: Apparently, there are multiple Puja quizzes this season! B Block’s quiz competition is on September 29 (6.30pm, teams of three) while K Block’s quiz is on September 30 (6.30pm, teams of two). Two more, held by Navapalli (Pocket 40) and D Block, will unfold in October.

Tata Crucible Campus Quiz (Online)

September 7 (5.30pm) is the final opportunity for college students who’d like to make their mark at Tata Crucible, arguably India’s most prestigious business quiz. The online prelims, which began on July 29, wrap up today, as does your shot at winning the 2.5lakh grand prize and a luxury holiday! Know more here.

ModelWiz Machine Learning Quiz (Online)

Sharda University, Greater Noida is hosting a three-round online quiz competition on data science and machine learning from September 14 to 16. An individual event for college students, it will test your ability to recall foundational concepts as well as uncover solutions to real-world issues. This last bit will emerge in the final round, when quizzers must build and submit their best predictive model to solve a problem via Kaggle. Winners will earn merchandise and certificates.

Registration: Free. Sign up on their Unstop page by September 13 (11.59pm).

Brainstorm History & GK Quizzes, Kolkata

Slated for September 13, Calcutta University’s Department of Law (Hazra Campus) will host two back-to-back quiz competitions for curious minds. The first will be the Dr. Pranab Mukherjee Memorial Quiz —an U-25 event on the Constitution, history and polity. It starts from 10.15am. The second will be the Sir Asutosh Mukherjee Memorial Quiz, which is an all-ages event testing general knowledge. This will begin at 1.45pm. Cash prizes and trophies in store for winners!

Registration: Paid. Walk-in registrations start at 9:30am, but it’s advisable to book your spot online. Sign up solo (Rs 75) or in teams of two (Rs 150) on this Google Form.
