Welcome back to our monthly calendar of the hottest picks in Indian quizzing! May’s selection packed quite the punch, and June seems to be following suit with a slew of exciting business, culture and niche-based quiz competitions to shake up your summer. For fans of slow burns, we also have new quiz leagues gearing up. Let’s see your options:

Tata Crucible Campus Quiz

Tata Crucible is back for its 19th edition as India’s most well-known business quiz. This year, all qualifiers will be held online (prelims, cluster wild card finals, 24 cluster finals) while the zonal and national finals will run offline. Students aged 18 or above from any Indian institute can participate, with quizmasters ‘Pickbrain’ and Rashmi Furtado running the show.

While exact start dates are yet to be revealed, it’s advisable to register early given the buzz around this event. The National Winner will bag a 2.5-lakh grand prize and the coveted Tata Crucible trophy, while the Top 3 will be eligible for an internship with the Tata Group.

Culture Quiz League (CQL)

As more MIMIR-based quiz leagues pop up on Indian shores, the CQL is the new kid on the block. A virtual contest, it will see four players paired against each other every week to tackle questions on food, cinema, music, pop culture, lifestyle and the arts. Starting June 12, the CQL has been shaped by veteran setters like Kushan Patel, Sania Narulkar, Siddhanth Rao and Vikas Plakkot, among others.

Registration: Paid, at Rs. 1250 (general) or Rs 750 (students) for eight weeks. All players can collect reader credits of Rs. 150/game for next season. Sign up on this form.

NIPM Business Quiz

India Wants To Know is hosting a business quiz for NIPM Kerala with prizes worth 1 lakh for the top four teams. Open to corporates and college students, the quiz prelims begin on June 3 (online, 3pm) while the Grand Finale is slated for June 24 (noon) at Radisson Blu, Kochi.

Flipper Online Quiz

Quite the niche quiz even for animal-lovers, Flipper is an online contest slated for June 16 by the Madras Crocodile Bank Trust and X Quiz It. Players will be quizzed on turtles, tortoises and reptiles, and must stay afloat or survive a cold-blooded takedown. A unique prize awaits Flipper’s Top 5: a trip to meet the residents of the Crocodile Bank in Mahabalipuram!

Fintech Olympiad 2023

With a prize pool of over 5 lakhs, Fintech Olympiad will be an inter-college test based on curated fintech learning material. Supported by Zerodha, Clear, CashRich and India FinTech Forum, the event will have two levels: Round 1 (Self Assessment, July 1 to Aug 30) and Round 2 (Online Proctored Exam, Sep 1 to 15). Post this, the Top 50 will be invited for the Grand Finale on November 1 in Mumbai.

Sports Quizzing League

The roster for Season 1 of the Sports Quizzing League, a new MIMIR contest announced last month, is out. Here’s what to expect across eight weeks of action-packed trivia:

Bizarre Open Business Quiz

IIM Bangalore is hosting a business and technology quiz as part of Vista 2023, its international business summit. Set for July 9, the on-campus event will be hosted by famed quizmaster Major Chandrakant Nair. A 90-minute prelims will act as elimination round, followed by an on-stage final, with prizes worth Rs 20,000 in store for winners.

Registration: Sign up here in teams of up to three by 9am of June 26. Walk-ins will be accepted till July 9 (9am) at IIM Bangalore.
