Prime Minister Narendra Modi is likely to hold a high-level meeting with the Chief Ministers of Andhra Pradesh, Telangana, Odisha, and Chhattisgarh on Wednesday to discuss the Polavaram Project. This will be the first time that the Prime Minister will directly engage in talks with all four states on this matter.

The meeting assumes significance as the project, a multi-purpose irrigation and hydroelectric venture in Andhra Pradesh, has been mired in disputes for years. Odisha, Chhattisgarh, and Telangana have raised objections, and related petitions are currently under consideration in the Supreme Court.

The Polavaram Project has sparked concerns in Odisha and Chhattisgarh, particularly over flooding risks and potential displacement in tribal-dominated areas. With the Prime Minister stepping in directly, stakeholders are hopeful for a breakthrough, or at least a clearer roadmap to address long-standing issues.

Nara Lokesh may be named TDP working president

All eyes will be on the ongoing annual Mahanadu of the TDP on Wednesday as the party looks set to announce Nara Lokesh as its working president, effectively putting him just after Andhra Pradesh CM and TDP chief in the party hierarchy.

The party will also deliberate on 14 key draft resolutions, ahead of the NDA government in the state completing its first year in power in the state.

The resolutions cover governance achievements and vision-based initiatives, including the government’s accomplishments in the last year, work done on accelerated irrigation projects, including river interlinking and Godavari water to Banakacharla, the development of the capital city, Amaravati, etc.

It will also include discussions on education reforms, women and youth empowerment, power sector reforms, turning agriculture profitable using technology, and strengthening law and order by cracking down on the mafia.

Delhi Congress to hold Jai Hind Sabha

The Delhi Congress on Wednesday will organise a Jai Hind Sabha to honour the armed forces for their valour in Operation Sindoor.

Senior leaders like AICC treasurer and Rajya Sabha MP Ajay Maken and former Rajasthan CM Ashok Gehlot will address the gathering.
