The BJP said that the Varun Gandhi case will not be a poll plank for the party in the run up to the Lok Sabha elections. "Varun's case is not BJPs issue in the current elections. His issue is like a water bubble (that will burst with time)",BJP national treasurer Ramdas Agarwal said. Agarwal hit out at other political parties and said that they were hell bent to hang him without without adequate proof. "Political parties are creating this atmosphere and want Varun hanged. He is not BJP's issue in the current elections",Agarwal said addressing a press conference. On the issue of political parties collecting funds from corporate sector during polls,Agarwal said that BJP did not pressurise any businessmen. Echoing BJP president L K Advani's comments about the necessity to bring back Indian money from Swiss banks,Agarwal said it was necessary to make legal changes to retrieve several lakh (about Rs 75 lakh crores) hidden in Swiss banks by Indians.
