Claiming that the foreign secretary level talks between India and Pakistan produced nothing,BJP on Friday said the outcome has substantiated the party’s stand that “terror and talks just cannot go together.”
“BJP is least surprised about the fact that the Indo-Pak dialogue held yesterday has produced almost nothing, and expectedly Pakistan is remorseless,” party chief Nitin Gadkari told reporters here.
“This has substantiated the considered position of BJP that terror and talks cannot just go together,” Gadkari said.
The BJP president said his party believes that besides handing over those who are wanted in India for terrorism related crimes, dismantling of terrorist camps in Pakistan is a pre-requisite for any meaningful dialogue with that country.
“Unless Pakistan proves that it fights against terrorism and takes action against those involved (in such activities),we cannot believe that Pakistan has changed its mind,” he said.
Gadkari alleged that the UPA government was playing to the international gallery for no reason and talking with Pakistan, giving legitimacy to a government which had failed to keep its word and lost credibility.
This is weakening India’s strategic position and further emboldening terrorists operating from across the border,he said.
