Corporate Affairs Minister Sachin Pilot, newly-inducted as Rajasthan Pradesh Congress Committee chief, Tuesday reached Jaipur and hitting the poll pitch, pledged to bring the ‘neta’ (politician) and ‘karyakarta’ (party worker) for improving performance in the Lok Sabha elections. “The biggest strength of the party is its workers and I am certain they will work hard and lead us to victory,” Pilot said. “Candidates will be announced well in time. This is what even Rahul Gandhi wants.” Pilot said new CLP leader Rameshwar Dudi and he would raise issues. “Dudi as leader of Opposition and I will together keep raising issues related to the masses,” he said on Tuesday afternoon. Pilot hit out at the Raje government for not taking action against those responsible for the Pratapgarh communal riots that killed three and injured nine people. Pilot’s induction is expected to woo the Gurjar community — former PCC chief and Jat leader Chandrabhan made way for Pilot — and Dudi’s selection was to please Jats. Pilot addressed a public meeting where senior leaders including former CM Ashok Gehlot and former PCC chief Chandrabhan were present. Pilot will take feedback from district and block committee of all the 25 Lok Sabha constituencies and convey responses to the party’s central leadership. “We will draw up a comprehensive feedback from the 25 parliamentary constituencies. This will then be forwarded to the screening committee by the end of the month,” he said. Meanwhile, the BJP-led government proposed mines minister Kailash Meghwal as Assembly Speaker. Meghwal, a Dalit legislator said, “In the history of Rajasthan Assembly, it is for the first time that a Dalit legislator has been proposed as speaker. With this, the backward communities will further identify with the BJP and support it,” Meghwal said.
