In the political affairs committee meeting the poll strategy and the issues to be taken up by the party were discussed. In the wake of reduced level of violence in the state, the party has decided to push for demilitarisation of other areas in the state after it was done in Bomai. “When there has been no effect on militancy after the withdrawal of troops from the sensitive area like Bomai, there is no point in keeping a large number of security forces in the other areas,” said,PDP general secretary,Nizamudin Bhat.
With unemployment having reached an alarming rate in the state, the party will also seek a national level policy on the matter. Senior party leaders also reiterated that during the political affairs committee meeting it was resolved by the party that the self rule was the only solution to the Kashmir issue. PDP has also decided to form campaign committees in each parliamentary constituency where the senior leaders and legislators will apprise the people about the policies and programmes of the party.
