Lalu keen on alliance with Congress for Lok Sabha polls

Lalu also hit out at Modi and said he will never become the prime minister like L K Advani.

RJD chief Lalu Prasad on Friday stressed that his party was keen on a tie-up with Congress for the Lok Sabha polls after he arrived here following his release on bail in a fodder scam case.

In capital to meet Congress leadership,he said talks between the two parties were not held yet.

“We were always in favour of an alliance with Congress,” he said. The former Bihar chief minister is keen to forge an alliance with Congress and other smaller parties to take on Nitish Kumar-led JD(U) and BJP. Prasad also hit out at BJP’s prime ministerial nominee Narendra Modi saying like L K Advani,he will never become the prime minister.

He said Nitish was not a factor in Bihar, apparently projecting his party as the real challenger to BJP in the electorally important state.

Reports suggest RJD is working on a grand alliance of RJD,Congress,Ramvilas Paswan-led LJP and CPI(ML),which wields considerable influence in central Bihar, after suffering several electoral reverses in previous elections.

Prasad was released from Birsa Munda Central Jail in Ranchi early this week,two-and-a-half months after he was convicted in a fodder scam case and sentenced to a five-year imprisonment.
