Opening up the contest with Congress and the TDP-BJP combine, Telangana Rashtra Samiti (TRS) chief K Chandrasekhara Rao has decided to contest from Medak Parliamentary seat as well. KCR is also contesting from Gajwale Assembly constituency in Medak district, aiming at the chief minister’s post.
KCR is learnt to have decided to contest from Medak to “teach a lesson to Congress” for admitting his protégé, filmstar-turned-politician M Vijayashanti into its fold, who had won the Medak LS seat in 2009 on TRS ticket.
Releasing his party’s third list Tuesday, KCR said his daughter K Kavita would contest the Nizamabad LS seat, pitting her against Congress MP Madhu Yakshi Goud. Kakatiya University professor K Sitaram Naik has been named for Mahbubabad LS seat while TRS student wing leader Balkam Suman will contest from Peddapalli.
Meanwhile, in a rare gesture, the Congress high command rolled back its decision on not giving tickets to Telangana Joint Action Committee members, withdrawing three candidates it had announced Monday night and allotting the seats to TJAC members. TJAC chief Addanki Dayakar has been nominated from Thungathurthi assembly seat in Nalgonda district.
Dayakar had expressed displeasure Monday night that the Congress did not give even one ticket to his outfit and hinted that the TJAC may review its decision to support the Congress. The Congress also changed the nominees for Secunderabad (Cantt) and Narsampet, and gave them to TJAC.
