Court extends Yasin judicial custody

The court also allowed the Special Cell, Delhi Police, to collect Bhatkal’s voice sample.

A city court on Friday sent alleged Indian Mujahideen co-founder Yasin Bhatkal and his close aide Asadullah Akhtar to a 7-day judicial custody in connection with a case lodged against them for the terror attacks at Jama Masjid in 2010. The court also allowed the Special Cell, Delhi Police, to collect Bhatkal’s voice sample. Bhatkal’s lawyer argued against the police plea on grounds that the police had earlier collected his samples during interrogation and that they did not have any recorded conversation with which they could match Bhatkal’s voice.
