Weeks after her party replied to his letter suggesting a 17-point agenda, West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee Tuesday met social activist Anna Hazare at the Trinamool Congress office here.
They spoke for more than an hour and another meeting is scheduled on Wednesday to finalise contours of Hazare’s support to the party. Trinamool wants him to campaign for the party during his tour of the country, but Hazare is yet to commit. Last week, Trinamool general secretary Mukul Roy had met Hazare in his village Ralegan Siddhi in Maharashtra.
“Look at the state the country is in. There is no justice for the poor; farmers are in dire straits. But now I have hope things will change, people want change. She (Mamata) leads a simple life, eats frugally, lives without any frills, does not take a government car or bungalow. This has given me hope that change will come,” Hazare, flanked by Banerjee and Roy, said.
