Cong leader opposes party MP Rajagopal’s fast

The internal differences within the ruling Congress in Andhra Pradesh over the Telangana issue came to the fore again with a section of senior party leaders opposing the proposed fast-unto-death of party MP L Rajagopal.

The Vijaywada MP should not undertake the fast in Hyderabad as it may create law and order problems in the city,senior leader Palwai Govardhan Reddy told reporters.

Rajagopal should sit on the fast either in Vijaywada or elsewhere in coastal Andhra region,he said.

Reddy said he would complain to the state Director General of Police (DGP) about the fast and urge him to take action against the MP to prevent any law and order problem.

Govardhan Reddy and other senior leaders are known for their strong pro-Telangana stance,while Rajagopal is a champion of the united Andhra Pradesh cause.
