The Union Cabinet on Tuesday approved President Pranab Mukherjee’s address to be delivered at the joint sitting of Parliament on June 9. The address will outline the future roadmap of the Narendra Modi government. The meeting lasted for about one and half hours. Ministries have given their inputs for the address. It will be followed by a debate and then the Prime Minister will reply.
The weeklong session of the new Lok Sabha will end on June 11. The government has said if there is a need to extend it by a day or two it would be done. Modi has already made it clear that his thrust will be on efficient governance, delivery and implementation. He has asked his Cabinet colleagues to set a 100-day agenda. The government’s 10-point agenda includes increasing investment, completing infrastructure projects in a time-bound manner and exploiting of natural resources, besides giving freedom to bureaucrats to take decisions and implement them.
