Well before the regime change hits the Nehru Memorial Museum & Library Congress loyalist and confidante Suman Dubey has quit from the Nehru Memorial Museum & Library. Member of the NMML Society, Dubey on Wednesday submitting his resignation to the Ministry of Culture. The move comes days before Narendra Modi is sworn in as the PM — a position that also automatically allows him to preside over the NMML Society. Dubey was also part of the eight-member Executive Council of NMML headed by Dr Karan Singh and its Finance Committee. In his communication to the Culture ministry, Dubey said that with imminent change in the government following the general elections, as an appointee of the outgoing UPA government, he would like to resign from the NMML Society and has requested his resignation be accepted with immediate effect. When contacted Dubey confirmed the same. “I have resigned as there has now been a change in government. I have been here for several years. the new government would want to make new appointments”, Dubey told The Indian Express. Dubey, a former journalist, however, continues to serve as secretary of Jawaharlal Nehru Memorial Fund — a private trust. Director NMML, Dr Mahesh Rangarajan declined to comment on the issue when contacted. The composition of the NMML Society suggests that many more resignations may be on their way. Other members of the NMML Society include Sonia Gandhi, Dr Karan Singh, Gopal Krishna Gandhi, filmmaker Shyam Benegal, Prof U R Ananthamuthry, Dr K Kasturirangan, outgoing ministers like Jairam Ramesh and Kumari Selja besides Culture minister Chandresh Kumari Katoch and Director NMML Mahesh Rangarajan.
