To claim the refund, it’s important to pre-validate your bank account, file the returns, and e-verify; below is a step-by-step guide to know how to check the ITR refund status online.

1. Through the Income Tax Portal:

Step 1: Visit the income tax portal: https://www.incometax.gov.in/iec/foportal/ and log in to your account.

Step 2: Click on ‘e-File,’ then ‘Income Tax Returns,’ and finally ‘View Filed Returns.’

Step 3: View the status of your current and historical income tax returns.

Step 4: Select ‘View details,’ and you will see the status of your income tax refund, as indicated in the image below.

2. Through the NSDL Portal:

Step 1: Visit the NSDL Portal: https://tin.tin.nsdl.com/oltas/refund-status-pan.html

Step 2: Enter your PAN information, pick the assessment year from the drop-down menu for which you are requesting a tax refund, and enter the captcha code.

Step 3: Select ‘Proceed’ from the ‘Taxpayer Refund (PAN)’ menu.

You will be taken to a page displaying the ‘Refund Status.’
