One more nail
* Apropos Blunder Janata Party (IE,January 7),recruiting Babu Singh Kushwaha, opposing FDI in retail, endorsing the ban on cow slaughter and blocking pension reforms are nails in the BJPs coffin. These overshadow the good work done by the party and its allies in Bihar,Gujarat and Chhattisgarh. The BJP has to rethink its strategy and behave in a more mature manner now.

Blame game
* Shekhar Gupta’s Blunder Janata Party is an apology for the UPA. When the ills of the country are all thanks to the Congress-ruled UPA,he is making needless observations about the BJP. That is further borne out by the distinction he makes between the BJP in Delhi and the states. The successes of Narendra Modi have been many. So,is Gupta not wrong in asking, why is the BJP looking so bankrupt of new ideas?

Divided family
* The consistent campaign against the Madhya Pradesh law banning cow slaughter is distasteful. Skipping all that is good about Hinduism, criticising Hindu organisations and favouring anti-Hindu propaganda seem to be the journalistic practice nowadays.

Apart,together
* I disagree with the editorial Talk to them (IE,January 9). For the skirmishes between the Trinamool and the Congress,Mamata Banerjee is as much responsible as,if not more than, the Congress. Mamata seems to be following the policy of my way or the highway. With the Left decimated in the state, she is trying to be her own mistress and hectoring,if not blackmailing, the Congress into agreeing to her demands. Of course, the Congress should be responsive to the allies demands and take them into confidence on all important decisions. What is needed is reconciliation and understanding, not hubris on either side.

Superwoman
* This refers to Windows in the ceiling (IE,January 6) by Sujatha Ramdorai. It would be wonderful if successful women in science and academia become role models for the younger generation. The Indian society loves the new earning woman but also wants her to be a devoted homemaker,a good mother, wife and daughter-in-law. She has to take on social and familial responsibilities along with her professional ones. Her dream to focus on her professional growth is yet to be embraced by society it is a change that is much-awaited,
much-required and eventually greatly rewarding too.
