THREE JUDGES OF Delhi and Chandigarh High Courts reached Pachmarhi to meet the detained Akali leaders Parkash Singh Badal and Surjit Singh Barnala. It also shows the central leadership’s anxiety to avert any possible large-scale rebellion against the official candidates by the sitting members.
Warning For Pakistan
THE INDIAN GOVERNMENT told Pakistan that it regarded the encouragement given to Sikh extremists from Western countries to indulge in anti-India activities as an “unfriendly act.” The Pakistan Ambassador in Delhi, Humayun Khan, was told by foreign secretary Maharaja Krishna Rasgotra about India’s “unhappiness, indignation and concern” at the way in which Sikh extremists from third countries were allowed to indulge in anti-Indian activities.
