One Nirankari was killed, an extremist disguised as a Nihang was drowned while fleeing from the police, and a dozen people were injured in firing and sword attacks by extremists in fresh violence in Kapurthala and Gurdaspur districts of Punjab, according to reports received in Chandigarh.

DTC Strike Illegal
The threatened DTC strike is illegal and the Delhi Transport Corporation will run normal bus services. Lalit Maken, president DTC Union, DTC Mazdoor Congress said that the management had no right to describe the strike as illegal. DTC being an essential service, a 14-day advance notice of the strike had been given by the Congress.
Holi Fear For Women
With the approach of Holi, the women students of Delhi University and its colleges are terror-stricken. They are finding it increasingly difficult to move about freely on the campus and outside without being molested by organised gangs of hoodlums. There are five more days to go for Holi, but already the attendance in the girls’ colleges has registered a steep fall. To discuss the “alarming” situation on the campus, the Students Union of Miranda House called a convention of girl students.
PSUs Criticised
Public sector undertakings under the central government are in for severe criticism by the prime minister, Indira Gandhi, who is contemplating rigorous steps to tone up their functioning. Mrs Gandhi has called a meeting of the heads of public sector undertakings, including their managing directors and chairmen on April 5 in New Delhi.
