Maratha reservation: Regular hearing soon

The Maratha community constitutes 33 per cent of Maharashtra’s population, and recently held statewide protest rallies.

Regular hearing in the Maratha reservation case is likely to begin in court soon. Highly placed sources on Sunday said the matter, pending in the court, would commence soon.

The BJP-led state government in Maharashtra has filed a comprehensive 2,700-page affidavit in the court to justify reservation for Marathas. The voluminous report uses historic data in an attempt to substantiate why Marathas need reservation.

The community constitutes 33 per cent of Maharashtra’s population, and recently held statewide protest rallies.
