NEW DELHI, January 30: Zuben Mathews defeated Nitin Seth in the first Vertex Weeknight Polo tournament at the Vertex Sports Cafe in Mehrauli today and took home the first prize of Rs 1000. Manish Madan and Sanjeev Gupta finished third and fourth respectively. All matches were single frame affairs, and thirty players, including one woman took part.
The tournament, held every Thursday night, is open to all.
The American Pool format is used where a player is eliminated after he loses twice. A participation fee of Rs 100 is levied for members and Rs 150 for non-members. The winners of each tournament will be seeded in the next edition.
