MUMBAI, December 9: Yuvraj Singh, Indian team’s latest star, has been selected as the Castrol junior-cricketer-of-the-year. The award carries Rs. 50,000 cash.Yuvraj was picked from a group of other youngsters including , Gujarat’s left-handed batsman Niraj Patel, Uttar Pradesh’s left arm medium pacer Salabh Srivastava and two other Punjabis Reetinder Singh Sodhi and Ravneet Ricky.Yuvraj made news in the last ICC trophy at Nairobi with match winning knocks against South Africa and Australia though in the recent series against Zimbabwe he is struggling. Before the international status he had compiled huge scores in Cooch Behar under-19 tournament and also at under-19 World Cup in Sri Lanka.The winner was selected by a panel comprising former Senior Coach Anshuman Gaekwad, Junior Coach Roger Binny and senior journalist Pradeep Vijaykar.The four losers will receive Rs 25,000 each.
