Karnataka Chief Minister B S Yeddyurappa will seek the trust vote on June 6 as Governor Rameshwar Thakur, who had earlier refused to address the joint sitting of both of the houses, has agreed to preside over the session.

“The Governor has agreed to deliver his address to the joint sitting of both Houses of Legislature on June 6,” Yeddyurappa said after meeting Thakur on Tuesday morning. Thakur had earlier refused to deliver his address to the joint session unless Yeddyurappa proved majority of his Government.

After the Governor’s address to the joint legislatures, Yeddyurappa would move a motion of confidence in the Assembly. The trust vote was required as BJP, which has 110 MLAs in the 224-member Assembly, sought the support of six Independents, to cross the magic figure of 113 for simple majority. All the six Independents have already declared their support for the BJP Government.
