LUDHIANA, June 21: Punjab Youth Congress PYC activists led by its vice president P. Arminder Mehta today took out a march to register their strong protest against Pakistan for stepping up militant activities in Jammu and Kashmir and the recent killings in Doda district of the state.
Later addressing the party workers, Mehta expressed concern over deteriorating law and order situation in J and K. He demanded dismissal of Farooq Abdullah government and imposition of President rule in the state with law and order maintenance to be entrusted to Army.
He deplored the partisan and evasive attitude of the Union Government towards people of J and K, while the Centre had rushed special teams of Home Ministry officials to Bihar and West Bengal after stray incidents of violence. The people of J and K, he added, had been left to the mercy of militants.
The protesters also burnt effigies of Pakistan Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif and the Pakistan intelligence agency ISI at this occasion.
