Scary Spice ties the knot

LONDON: Guests celebrated the showbiz 8220;wedding of the year8221; yesterday after Spice girl Mel B, 23, married dancer Jimmy Gulzar, also 23. Scary Spice Mel B became Mel G in a 40-minute service at St John The Baptist church in the village of Little Marlow, Buckinghamshire. This was followed by a champagne reception in a giant marquee pitched in the eight-acre garden of the singer8217;s 4.3 million-dollar mansion next to the church.

Saudi Septuplets

DUBAI: Saudi septuplets born eight months ago left the hospital where they were staying after doctors said they were well enough to go. The septuplets were born last January in the Abha hospital in the southern part of Saudi Arabia. The babies were well enough to go home for the past few months but their parents did not have the resources to look after all of them, hospital sources said. Last April, Saudi crown prince Abdullah gave the parents 53,000 dollars to help them meet their expenses. The couple has five more childrento take care of, and the father gets a pension of only 1,000 dollars per month and makes some extra income by driving a taxi.

CAIRO: A young Egyptian woman gave birth in a Cairo subway train on Saturday, the newspaper Al-Ahram reported. The paper said the woman suddenly felt the delivery contractions while travelling in the female section of the train. She was assisted by other women during the 30-minute delivery. One passenger informed the driver who immediately stopped the train and ordered windows to be shut in the compartment where the 20- year-old woman delivered her baby. An ambulance was called and the mother and the new-born infant were immediately transferred to a nearby hospital for further medical care.

Viagra for Aussies

BRISBANE: Viagra went on sale in Australia on Monday, amid warnings to men with heart trouble that they should have a medical checkup before using the virility drug. Pharmacies across the country said they would begin filling back orders and wereexpecting a run of inquiries about the drug, for which the government fast-tracked approval processes in an attempt to stem a growing black market trade. Viagra will sell for around US 10 a tablet, not counting pharmacies8217; markup. Its sale requires a prescription from a general practitioner.
