Japan conquered female individual events by winning all the three titles

Sathiyan Gnanasekaran clinched gold beating Japan8217;s Koki Niwa, the number one seed, in the final of the Bajaj Group Indian Junior Open 2008 ITTF World Junior Circuit Table Tennis tournament held at Balewadi Sports Complex on Sunday.

Sathiyan had ousted Singapore8217;s Pang Xue Ji in the semi-finals and Korea8217;s Jo Kyung Hwan, in the quarter-finals.

On the whole, the Cadet Boys8217; Singles was a successful event for India, the only disappointment being the defeat of Soumyajit Ghosh in round two. Seeded two, he lost to Korea8217;s Ham So Ri.

Japan8217;s seventeen-year-old Kaito Fujimoto won the Boys8217; Singles title in the junior category by beating compatriot Kohei Morimoto and in so doing won his first career title on the ITTF Junior Circuit.

The Japanese teenagers Yuki Hirano and Koki Niwa clinched gold in the Boys8217; Doubles competition, overcoming fellow Japanese players Kaito Fujimoto and Kohei Morimoto in the final.

Yuki Fuji secured gold in the Girls8217; Singles event, Misaki Morizono and Ayuka Tanioka won the Girls8217; Doubles title; whilst Ayuka Tanioka emerged as champion in the Cadet Girls8217; Singles competition. Seeded one, Yuko Fuji justified her exalted position by beating Romania8217;s Bernadette Szocs, Singapore8217;s Isabelle Li plus colleague Yui Sato in the semi-finals and Ayuka Tanioka in the final.

In the Girls8217; Doubles, she partnered Misaki Morizono to victory, the pair beating the Romanians, Camelia Postoaca and Bernadette Szocs in the final having ousted second seeds, India8217;s Neha Aggarwal and Soumi Mondal in the semis. Ayuka Tanioka looked impressive as she defeated the host nation8217;s Mallika Bhandarkar in the final of the Cadet Girls Singles competition.
