
CHANDIGARH, Sept 6: More than 20 delegates are attending a four-day training workshop on Access to Social Science Information. The workshop began today at the Centre for Research in Rural and Industrial Development CRRID here.
The workshop is being organised jointly by the National Social Science Documentation Centre NASSDOC and CRRID. The workshop aims to benefit social scientists, university teachers, research scholars, information specialists and librarians, sources stated.
Inaugurating the workshop, T.K.A. Nair, chairman, Public Enterprises Selection Board, New Delhi, stated that although information technology has revolutionised the way things move, often information users remain left out. Nair stated that there is a need for better exchange of information between various wings of the government so that the benefits of decisions percolate down to the grassroot level.
Others who spoke on the occasion were CRRID Director Rashpal Malhotra, Dr K.G. Tyagi, director NASSDOC and Dr A.R. Sethi, Librarian, Punjab University.
The delegates are drawn mainly from New Delhi, Chandigarh and various parts of Punjab.
