Wijetilak, Deepthi enter finals

HYDERABAD, June 10: Fifth seed Ajit Wijetilak of Karnataka will take on third-seed Abhin Shyam Gupta Air India in the men8217;s singles final while Ch. Deepthi of Andhra Pradesh will clash with top seed Manjusha Kanwar of Delhi in the women8217;s singles final of the Indian Grand Prix prize money badminton tournament.

In the men8217;s semi-finals played here today, Wijetilak stunned top seed Nikhil Kanetkar of Maharashtra 15-11, 4-15, 15-3 while Gupta of Air India rallied back superbly to down second seed Srikanth Bakshi of Railways 12-15, 15-9, 15-11.

In the women8217;s semi-finals, unseeded Deepthi, down by a game, came back with vengeance to outplay unseeded Sampada Shetty of Air India, 6-11, 12-11, 11-1 while former national champion Manjusha had to put her best foot forward to thwart the spirited challenge put up by Olympian P V V Lakshmi of Andhra Pradesh to win 3-11, 12-10, 11-1.
