On his first visit to Vietnam, Defence Minister AK Antony took time off for a very special visit to the house of someone he describes as his 8220;childhood hero8221; 8212; General Vo Nguyen Giap, the longest serving Defence Minister of Vietnam, described by historian Stanley Karnow as ranking with 8220;Wellington, Grant, Lee, Rommel, and MacArthur in the pantheon of great military leaders8221;. While Antony recalled reading the heroics of the General, Giap, now in his 90s, surprised the Indian delegation by mentioning India8217;s giant strides in science 038; technology and IT and hoping that 8220;the Indian advantage8221; will be extended to the people of Vietnam.
