NEW DELHI, December 8: Soon after the residents of Pocket-IV in Mayur Vihar Phase-I finally got piped water, their problems began. Complaining about the inadequacy of the system, R L Verma, president, Residents Welfare Association Block 23-30 said: 8220;We were so happy when the underground tank for our area was finally commissioned in the last week of October. But we are still getting muddy water.8221;

Verma explained that the problem was caused by the fact that the tank has already begun to leak. This water, he said, accumulates in a pit near the tank and as the same water is pumped back into the tank, the residents are being supplied contaminated water.

DJB officials said that any new system required two-three months to stabilise. He did agree that the leakages were serious and he would instruct the officials concerned to look into the matter.
