Churchill stubbed-out cigar butt up for sale
LONDON: Britains wartime prime minister Sir Winston Churchill rarely failed to finish a cigar but one he stubbed out half-way during the Second World War is now up for sale in London. The four inches long stub was left by Churchill before he dashed off for a Cabinet meeting on August 22,1941 the day German troops reached Leningrad; its now expected to fetch 300 pounds at auction,The Daily Mail reported. Whitehall valet Nellie Goble found it when cleaning and sent it to a friend,with a note on No 10 paper reading: Just a small souvenir to remind you at some future date of one of the greatest men that ever lived in England.
Beer can prevent prostate,breast cancers
LONDON: Not only men,even women now have another excuse to go down the pub,thanks to a new study which has revealed that downing a glass of beer daily could prevent prostate and breast cancers,The Daily Mail reported. Researchers at the German Cancer Research Centre in Heidelberg have discovered that beer contains a powerful molecule which actually helps protect against the breast and prostate cancers. The substance called xanthohumol blocks the excessive action of testosterone and oestrogen; it also helps to prevent the release of a protein called PSA which encourages the spread of prostate cancer,they say.
