BSP chief Mayawati Sunday said the party was ready for general elections whenever it is held. Though she did not rule out early election

BSP chief Mayawati Sunday said the party was ready for general elections whenever it is held. Though she did not rule out early election, she said her party would continue to support the UPA government despite its anti-people policies to keep communal forces at bay.

At the Chandigarh Airport,Mayawati said that looking at the situation that is prevailing it seems that the elections could be held before schedule. Whether the elections are held before schedule or on time, the BSP is ready. Our party is putting all efforts for preparations, she said.

The BSP chief was in the city to attend the prayer ceremony in the memory of Gurcharan Kaur, sister of Kanshi Ram,late founder of BSP. The prayer ceremony was at a village in Zirakpur. She said that the party was not satisfied with the policies of the centre, especially those for weaker sections.

She evaded a direct reply on the emergence of Narendra Modi as BJPs PM candidate and said he wasnt in her party. To a similar question on Rahul Gandhi, she said the Congress would be able to answer.
