The Uttar Pradesh Congresss co-ordination committee meeting on Thursday,to be attended by Rahul Gandhi,will decide on two things a short-term programme for the coming by-elections and a long-term roadmap for the Assembly elections scheduled in 2012. To decide these programmes,the panel will review its performance in the Lok Sabha elections to identify the strengths and weaknesses and lessons for future. It will decide on the organisational changes to introduce accountability,and identify the issues on which it would confront the state government. This will be the fifth meeting of the co-ordination committee,main policy-planning body of the party,since it was set up in 2007. Rahul Gandhi has attended some meetings in the past,but this time he is taking active interest in the affairs of Uttar Pradesh and will have an important role in deciding the future programme,said a senior leader. On all the issues,the party has done the basic homework. After detailed discussions and meetings with state leaders, AICC general secretary Digvijay Singh,state party president Rita Bahuguna Joshi and Congress Legislature Party leader Pramod Tiwari have prepared a report. The facts and findings will be placed before the committee and we will decide how we proceed for the 2012 elections, said Joshi. Rahul to hold NSUI election in Chhattisgarh New Delhi: After the successful organisational election of the NSUI in Uttarakhand,AICC general secretary Rahul Gandhi has decided to conduct NSUI elections in Chhattisgarh. He is likely to visit the state soon in this connection. He is also learnt to have decided to hold organisational elections of the Indian Youth Congress in Tamil Nadu,Jharkhand and Haryana. ENS
