Two arrested, police rule out MMS link

The SAS Nagar Police claimed to have solved the double murder of a woman and her daughter that took place in Baltana on January 12

The SAS Nagar Police on Tuesday claimed to have solved the double murder of a woman and her daughter that took place in Baltana on January 12. They have arrested two persons who have been identified as Arun Kumar 20 and Pawan Kumar Jangra 22,both residents of Baltana.

The two were arrested from Patiala road on Tuesday morning. Shikha 45 and her 16-year-old daughter Priyanka, who was a student of Class X,were found murdered in their house on January 12.

With the arrests, the police ruled out any link between the MMS clipping and the double murder. Soon after the double murder, the police had suspected a link with the MMS clipping in which a group of girls had allegedly stripped one of their friends outside a Panchkula hotel and filmed a five-minute MMS of her and later circulated it. Shikhas elder daughter was alleged to be part of the group which was involved in making the MMS.

Addressing a press conference,SAS Nagar SSP Gurpreet Singh Bhullar said,Robbery was the motive behind the murder. The accused used to frequent the shop run by the deceased under the house to buy cigarettes and had eyed the jewellery worn by Shikha.
