Tribals voice being suppressed under Raman rule: Rahul

He said government that could not even ensure safety of Congress leaders cannot be trusted to protect tribals.

Exactly four months after the May 25 Darbha attack in which several top Congress leaders were killed, the party attempted to re-establish democracy in Bastar as party vice-president Rahul Gandhi addressed a massive rally of tribals in Jagdalpur. He claimed that the voice of tribals is being suppressed in Chhattisgarh and the BJP government has snatched their land even without informing them.

Referring to the Darbha victims,he said a government that could not even ensure safety of Congress leaders cannot be trusted to protect tribals.

Paying special tribute to deceased PCC chief Nand Kumar Patel,Rahul said: There are two kinds of leaders. Those who do politics for themselves, and those who do it for people. Patel belonged to the second category. Expressing confidence that his party will form the government in upcoming Assembly polls in Chhattisgarh,he said the Congress is run by the people. He urged tribal youths to join the party and promised that his government would undertake steps for their upliftment.

The Centre has given Rs 10,000 crore only for Bastar, but even roads are not constructed. Entire money has been consumed by corruption, PCC president Charan Das Mahant said.
