Noted Hindi film music director Anandji Shah (of Kalyanji Anandji fame) has been selected for the Sanskruti Vaibhav award for his contribution to music. The award,comprising Rs 11,000 a memento and citation,will be presented to him at a function in Nashik on May 7. A Kishore Kumar festival will also be organised on the occasion,where the late playback singer’s sons — Amit and Sumit —and his actress-wife Leena Chandavarkar will be present.

Saving grace?

Prior to the release of his film Shor In The City,Tusshar Kapoor has been doing rounds of various temples. After visiting the famous Tirupati temple,the actor went to seek the blessings at Indore’s Ganesh Khajrana temple.

Shilpa Shetty was not present when her IPL team,Rajasthan Royals,won the match against Kochi Tuskers Kerala as she was suffering from back pain. The muscular back spasm made it almost impossible for her to move out of her home. However,Shilpa and Raj plan to throw a party for Elizabeth Hurley,who is currently in India to be with Rajasthan Royals’ captain Shane Warne,at their bungalow in Juhu. It is going to be a lavish but intimate affair as Shilpa is still recuperating and has been advised bed rest.

Joint action

Mahesh Bhatt’s wife Soni Razdan has taken legal action against Pakistani actress Meera. Recently the actress landed up at the filmmaker’s office declaring that she thought of him not only as her guru but also as her boyfriend in the presence of many guests. Hence Soni met with her lawyers to file a defamation suit underlining charges of character assassination as earlier too Meera had tried to malign her husband. She had accused him of slapping her.

Judicial relief

Nearly a month after the trial court convicted him for raping his maid,Shiney Ahuja was granted bail on April 27 by the Bombay High Court. He has been asked by Justice A. R. Joshi to furnish a bail bond of Rs 50,000. The judge observed that his custody was not required for now as he had already been convicted but asked him not to leave the country without prior permission of the court.
