The Bengaluru cybercrime police recently arrested an auto-rickshaw driver and a software engineer for allegedly posting derogatory comments on social media against the wife of a prominent Kannada actor.
The woman had filed a complaint at the Cyber Crime Police Station on December 24, alleging that several individuals were posting obscene and derogatory messages against her and her family on social media. The complainant requested legal action against 18 persons who were allegedly posting these obscene messages.
The cybercrime police tracked down messages posted by the accused on social media platforms like Facebook and Instagram. Two of the accused were subsequently identified and arrested.
Releasing a statement on Friday, the Bengaluru police said, “Two accused were identified as Chandrashekar B, son of Sarabai, 45 years, an auto-rickshaw driver, resident of Chikkabanavara, Bengaluru and Nithin, son of Basavarajappa, 31 years, a software engineer, resident of Davanagere. Both individuals have been secured and further investigation is under process.”
The police also stated that a search was underway to nab the remaining accused.
