With the Supreme Court concluding that the heart of the CBIs coal scam probe status report has been altered and pulling up CBI,PMO and Coal Ministry officials, the main opposition BJP on Wednesday claimed its stand has been vindicated and reiterated its demand for the resignation of Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and sacking of Law Minister Ashwani Kumar. The Left,on the other hand, said the Prime Minister must own up responsibility.

With the Budget Session of Parliament over, the BJP has also decided to take its campaign to the streets. Leader of the Opposition Sushma Swaraj led the partys charge, alleging that the Law Minister,Attorney General GE Vahanvati and Additional Solicitor General Harin Raval have misconducted themselves.

The ASG has resigned. Attorney General and Law Minister should also resign forthwith, she said. The BJP Parliamentary Board, which met to discuss the Karnataka debacle, decided that the party should hit the streets.

The Supreme Court has observed that the case has been diluted and heart of the report has been changed, senior BJP leader M Venkaiah Naidu said, arguing the apex courts serious observations that vindicated the BJPs charge that the government is misusing the CBI. The government is also using the CBI to harass political parties. This government is surviving due to the CBI, he said.

Naidu said the BJP stands by it demand that the Prime Minister should resign while the Law Minister and Railway Minister Pawan Kumar Bansal, who is embroiled in a bribery allegation, should be sacked.

CPIs D Raja said the apex court has pulled up the PMO,which amount to indictment of the Prime Minister. The courts remarks were scathing. The Prime Minister must own up responsibility now and explain to the people of the country what had transpired, he said.
