Curfew,concertina wire blockades and hundreds of police and CRPF men kept Srinagar shut for the fourth consecutive day Monday to thwart the march to slain schoolboy Tufail Ahmad Matoos home in Saida Kadal called by chief of Hurriyats hardline faction Syed Ali Shah Geelani.
Downtown Srinagar,which was rocked by widespread violent protests for the past three days,was virtually under siege. Police and CRPF men in riot gear manned the razor-wire blocked streets that lead to the old city and did not allow people to move around.
