Small sugar gains on better offtake

Small sugar prices moved up slightly at the Vashi wholesale market here today on better retail offtake. While,medium sugar declined on stockist selling on the back of ample stock positions.

Small Sugar S-30 gained by Rs 5 per quintal to Rs 2,921/3,011 from Monday8217;s closing level of Rs 2,916/3,011. Medium Sugar M-30 slid further by Rs 10 per quintal to Rs 3,001/3,102 per quintal as against previous close of Rs 3,001/3,112.

The following are today8217;s closing rates for sugar per quintal,with the previous rates given in brackets: Small sugar S-30 quality: Rs 2,921/3,011 Rs 2,916/3,011. Medium sugar M-30 quality: Rs 3,001/3,102 Rs 3,001/3,112.
