TDPs C M Ramesh,protesting against Telangana statehood,fainted in the well of the Rajya Sabha Thursday. Ramesh,along with party colleague Y S Chowdary,had been protesting ever since Monsoon Session began. After Ramesh collapsed,the House was adjourned for 10 minutes while MPs helped him stand up and sprinkled water on his face. Ramesh regained consciousness and was taken to RML hospital. Chowdary,however,continued the protest when the House reconvened. Leader of Opposition Arun Jaitley then appealed to him to call off the protest saying the government could give a satisfactory response on Monday. MoS Parliamentary Affairs Rajiv Shukla said he will ensure the issue is taken up immediately after Question Hour on Monday and asked Chowdary to call off the protest. Chowdary agreed.
CPM red over food bill ad
CPM MP A Sampath accused the Food Ministry of committing gross impropriety by publishing advertisements about food security Bill when it has been tabled in the House. This is not called for and it amounts to breach of privilege upon rights and privileges of MPs, he said. ENS/PTI
