Shinde rewarded for inefficiency,says BJP

The Cabinet reshuffle that put P Chidambaram in the Finance Ministry and Sushilkumar Shinde in the Home Ministry as his replacement has not impressed the BJP

The Cabinet reshuffle that put P Chidambaram in the Finance Ministry and Sushilkumar Shinde in the Home Ministry as his replacement has not impressed the BJP.

On the day the power grid failure, which put 23 states and 64 crore people in darkness, took place Power Minister Shinde was given an instant reward by the Prime Minister when he made him Home Minister. Such a reward for inefficiency is unparalleled, BJP spokesman Prakash Javadekar said Wednesday.

Javadekar accused Shinde of mismanagement of the power sector and said the BJP would take up this issue in the forthcoming session of Parliament.

Chidambaram,Javadekar said, should not have been made the finance minister as a matter of propriety because the BJP had, during the last session of Parliament, charged him with having a role in the controversial Aircel-Maxis deal.

The BJP,sources indicated, would again corner Chidambaram over the deal in the forthcoming session.

Javadekar also criticised the prime ministers decision to give additional charge of the Power Ministry to Corporate Affairs Minister Veerappa Moily. Moily has become a minister on transfer. First,he was transferred from the Law and Justice Ministry to the Corporate Affairs Ministry and now to Power, he said.
