Even as most of the states rebel groups are engaged in peace talks,Assam Chief Minister Tarun Gogoi on Thursday asked Union Home Minister P Chidambaram to provide additional security forces,especially in view of the increasing Maoist threat in the region.
The Home Minister stressed on increasing development activities in areas along the inter-state borders where the Maoists are trying to gain a foothold, said Gogoi after his meeting with Chidambaram,who made an hour-long stopover here while returning from Manipur to New Delhi.
Gogoi added that Chidambaram did not make any assurance on providing additional forces.
