Leading the anti-Womens Reservation Bill campaign along with the rest of the Yadav brigade,JDU leader Sharad Yadav is silently nudging the Muslim community to step up their opposition to the legislation, hoping that such a move would force the Congress to rethink. In a surprise move,Sharad went to the Jamaat-e-Islami Hind headquarters this week as part of his campaign against the Bill. His point was that Dalits and Muslims form the core of the Congresss support base, and if these sections come out in the open against the Bill,it would unnerve the ruling party. Sharads argument was music to the ears of the Jamaat leaders who have already sounded their opposition to the legislation in the present form. On their part,Muslim leaders who are seeking a sub-quota went to Left leaders Prakash Karat and A B Bardhan, but the comrades told them to let the Bill be passed first and their demand could be considered later.
