SC refuses to pass order on Asaram plea

Asarams counsel had urged the court to restrain media from carrying speculative reports about Asaram.

The Supreme Court Tuesday refrained from passing any order on a plea by Asaram Bapu, who sought a restraint order against media from prejudicing his sexual assault case and demeaning his ashrams. The matter was mentioned before a Bench headed by CJI P Sathasivam which asked him to file a proper petition and posted it for hearing on October 21.

Asarams counsel had urged the court to restrain media from carrying speculative reports about Asaram, his family and ashrams in the wake of the rape allegations. He objected to Asarams ashrams allegedly being portrayed by media as some kind of brothels.
