Senior Trinamool Congress MP Saugata Roy on Wednesday quit as Adviser to Chief Minister Commerce and Industries over differences with Mamata Banerjee as well as state Commerce and Industry Minister Partha Chatterjee over the governments new industrial policy.
A few days ago,Roy had submitted a draft of the industrial policy to the state government in which he had advocated for the governments role in acquiring land for the industries an issue totally opposed by Mamata.
I will not make any comment on this issue, Roy,a former union minister in the UPA cabinet told The Indian Express.
Last week,at a seminar he said that setting up of big industries in the state was impossible at this juncture and the states future was in the hands of small and medium industries. After the Trinamool pulled out of the UPA,all its ministers at the Centre were made advisers to the CM.
