Even as the BJP on Wednesday said the party would look into the legal aspects of a pending case against Bihar Cooperative Minister and its Aurangabad MLA Ramadhar Singh,a delegation of the RJD met Governor Debanand Konwar demanding the sacking of the absconder minister.

Singh has been a proclaimed offender since December 1995 for making an inflammatory speech after the 1992 Babri mosque demolition.

Leader of Opposition Abdul Bari Siddiquei,who led the RJD delegation,said,Since Governor is the appointing authority of ministers,we have requested him to immediately sack the absconder minister. He said propriety demanded that the BJP minister should either resign or get sacked. How can a proclaimed offender remain a minister? It is a big question mark of efficacy of the police as well.

Deputy Chief Minister Sushil Kumar Modi said Singh would seek legal remedy if needed.

We will study the court papers and act accordingly. After all,Singh had not committed any heinous crime, he said.

The BJP downplayed chances of it asking Singh to quit. Bihar Chief Electoral Officer Sudhir Kumar Rakesh said he did not know the details of Singhs election affidavits. When asked about what happens if a candidate does not mention status of a case pending against him,Rakesh said: The returning officer in front of whom a candidate files his affidavit is the competent person to recommend action against the candidate furnishing false or incomplete claims in the affidavit.

Though Singh did mention the pending 1992 Madanpur case against him in his 2005 and 2010 Assembly elections affidavits,he did not mention the absconder status in the case.
